Bazhong's unique climate of 31 degrees north latitude endows the nature with rich gifts. There are more than 2,400 species of wild animals and plants, rich graphite reserves leading in Asia, abundant natural gas reserves in the Tongjiang-Nanjiang-Bazhong Structure Belt, and organic agricultural products rich in selenium. Bazhong is named as "The Hometown of Selenium-enriched Tea in China", "The Hometown of Nanjiang Yellow Goats in China" and "The Hometown of Karst Caves in China". It has been honored as an Important Biological Gene Bank in the northern margin of Sichuan Basin by UNESCO.
