The Bazhong City Blood Center was approved by the Bazhong Municipal People's Government in June 2000 to establish a fully funded public health institution. It serves a total population of 4 million and more than 90 clinical blood transfusion medical institutions. 

It is responsible for the recruitment of unpaid blood donors, blood collection, preparation, and testing, clinical blood supply and medical blood supply, and quality control of blood storage. 

The center is equipped with large-scale special equipment such as a blood nucleic acid detection system, automatic enzyme immunoassay, an automatic biochemical analyzer, blood irradiation instruments, blood cell separators, frozen red blood cell preparation instruments, a sterile takeover machine, and other resources serving all counties and districts’ fixed blood donation houses. It also possesses 2,740 square meters of business and office space and 1,000 square meters of administrative office space. Its total fixed assets are valued at more than 25 million yuan.
